PFL W10 Preview: Disruption Rules 2 – Disrupt Harder

In the shadow of the Tri-Stars’ last two World Cup qualifiers for this cycle, we still have a semi-full slate of games in the League. With the season approaching the home stretch, what will our valiant pitch warriors do this week to seal their fates and finish their stories?

Also, before we begin, this humble scribe joins the Filipino football community in mourning and saluting the life of Jose Antonio Prats. A tireless advocate of grassroots football and the founder of the Weekend Futbol League, Mr. Prats passed away earlier this week. His indefatigable passion and love of the game will be sorely missed. Godspeed to Mr. Prats, and peace to his family and loved ones.

Kaya Iloilo FC

-> Good Lord, if Cebu FC blows this momentum again… apologies for the casual tone, but what else can you say when a club puts up a basketball run for a result? You can only hope they avoid a repeat of the Kaya match where a loss follows a big win.

Stallion Laguna FC
Last time out: 1-1 draw vs United City
Next time out: vs PAF FC, Saturday at 7 pm

-> It was a seemingly fatal stumble for the Steeds’ title hopes, drawing with UCFC last week. Needing help now to steal the title, the mission starts with a game against a battling Airmen side, with the hope Junior Sam reignites his goal-scoring form.

-> Talk about breaking out of your recent slide in style – hanging 9 on Mendiola does wonders for your confidence. With their next game against a tough Manila Digger side moved to July, it should allow the Lighthousemen some rest and an opportunity to catch their legs.

-> How quickly form turns indeed, UCFC gaffer Ramon Tribulietx must be musing, after dropping 4 points in two weeks. Playing Tuloy FC should offer some respite if taken seriously, as the youngsters have played above their league standing all season.

Manila Digger FC

-> The Red and Yellow are on a bit of a backward slide despite two battling losses. The reschedule of their game vs OneTaguig to July should provide some respite for their squad to heal up and find that fire they had earlier in the year.

Loyola FC

-> Loyola’s winning streak was disabused of them against Davao Aguilas. Can they bounce back against an up-and-down Maharlika side?

-> How can a 5-0 win be a squib? When you do it like how Maharlika did and step off the gas for large swathes of the second half, that’s how. They can finally return to facing proper football teams again against a Loyola side smarting from getting beaten by Davao.
