In an intense match at Rizal Memorial Stadium, Manila Digger edged out Philippine Air Force FC with a dramatic stoppage-time goal in the 2024 Philippines Football League.
The decisive moment came nine minutes into stoppage time when Jeon Sang-cheon delivered a pass into the box, leading to a chaotic scramble. Substitute Daiki Jahana capitalized on the opportunity, slotting the ball into the net after a failed save attempt by Zaldy Abraham, with Eric Giganto applying extra pressure.
Earlier in the game, Philippine Air Force FC had taken the lead in the 22nd minute. Jan Delariarte’s attack resulted in Angelo Obero outmaneuvering Christian Bacara and scoring past Joshua Jalog, putting the Airmen ahead.
Manila Digger struggled to break through Air Force’s defense before halftime, with goalkeeper Abraham making several crucial saves. The equalizer came in the 59th minute when Ashley Flores exploited a temporary numerical advantage after Rodolf Bebanco was sidelined, skillfully navigating past defenders and Abraham to level the score.
A collision between Abraham and Johnmar Barsanilla halted the game late on, but despite Abraham’s efforts to continue, Jahana’s last-gasp goal sealed the victory for Manila Digger.
With this win, Manila Digger earned three points, raising their total to 18, while Philippine Air Force FC recorded their tenth loss of the season and remained in 14th place.
