Don Bosco – Garelli United (DBGU) secured a narrow 1-0 victory over Philippine Air Force FC in the Philippines Football League (PFL) Sunday opening fixture.
DBGU’s Banagodos and Koumouin had early chances, but Air Force goalkeeper Abraham made key saves, and some attempts missed the target.
In the 39th minute, the referee played advantage after Belgira’s challenge from Air Force on a Garelli player. Bullen of Garelli’s shot then hit the post, and Belgira received a yellow card for the infraction.
Garelli broke the deadlock with Jangobah Johnson scoring from the rebound after a Banagodos free kick. Despite numerous chances, Air Force couldn’t convert, ending the first half 1-0 in favor of Garelli United.
Air Force FC dominated the second half, but their captain Albor Jr. had a bad fall and played briefly before requesting a substitution. Bronda’s on-target attempt was saved by Garelli’s Misagal. Oladipo of Garelli was booked for fouling Mauring of Air Force.
Air Force’s Jed Delariarte hit the post on a free kick, and Obero missed a chip shot wide left. Near the end, Koumouin’s shot for Garelli was saved by Abraham.
DBGU held on to their 1-0 lead until the final whistle. Don Bosco – Garelli United went up three places in the league standings, from 13th to 10th, while Air Force stays in 14th with 3 points.
