Coming from a Loyola win and a week-long break, Cebu FC is still as hot as the country’s weather as they demolished an all-Filipino team in Tuloy FC, winning 7-1.
Cebu started their offense very early with an on-target shot by Uzoka, narrowly saved by Antilo Jr. of Tuloy. Organized defense was shown by the boys from Alabang, but in the 10th minute, Goktug Demiroglu scored a gentle header from a set piece by Mijland.
Despite being down, Tuloy showcased great ball movement that led to their first attempt, with Cyrelle Saut aiming a bit wide. There was almost a goal for Cebu from another set piece by Mijland, but it was saved by Haren De Gracia nearly on the line. Tuloy had opportunities with Diaz and Nuñez, but their shots went way off target.
Tuloy FC’s goalkeeper continued showing his resilience with a save on Ho-a-tham’s deflected shot. But moments later, Cebu scored their 2nd goal off a shot by Abou Sy from a corner taken by Mijland.
Jalique, Tuloy’s target man, was well-marked by Cebu, specifically by Demiroglu. However, before the end of the 1st half, a cross by Noti Ñunez to Cyrelle Saut led to an open header for Bryan Villanueva, securing Tuloy’s first goal. End of the 1st half.
The second half started with Jeremiah Borlongan and Daniel Gadia being subbed in to match Tuloy’s pace. Tactics were changed, and Cebu’s play style became different. Shortly after, Mijland provided another assist to Abou Sy for Cebu’s 3rd goal, coming off a counter-attack.
De Gracia made the Cebu foreign-front 3 struggle, showing his ADT and youth team experience. While Mijland had a curling shot, it was saved by Antilo. Last fixture’s hat-trick hero Ho-a-tham scored Cebu’s 4th goal from a denied Borlongan shot.
Physicality was shown throughout the game, resulting in Dabao III receiving a yellow card after an elbow to Tuloy’s Sajor. A landslide of goals happened during the late part of the game as Yanik converted Cebu’s 5th goal, with Villanueva’s fatigue being a factor against the fresh substitute. Borlongan’s shot made it six.
Cebu’s goalkeeper, Jun Badelic Jr., saved the shot from Sajor, denying Tuloy a second goal. And just before the final whistle, Yanik found Hama for their seventh goal, securing Cebu’s emphatic victory. They had only one mindset, “We came with a mentality, of course, to win,” said Demiroglu
