The Philippines were sent back to earth Thursday afternoon in the AFC U17 Women’s Asian Cup by a rampant North Korea, who scored six goals without reply to breeze through to the semifinals at the Bali United Training Centre in Gianyar.
In a dominant display, the Philippine girl’s U-17 national team kicked off their Asian Cup campaign with a resounding 6-1 victory over the Indonesian hosts. Led by Alexa Piño’s early goal, they swiftly took control of the match, with contributions from Claudia Scheunemann and Jael Guy further extending their lead. Despite a slower second half due to weather conditions, the Filipinas added two more goals, securing a convincing win ahead of their next challenge against North Korea.
